He won despite repeated attacks from President Trump, who threatened to hold back federal funds from the city, even going as far as to label the city's large Jewish population stupid if they supported the mayor-elect. The Murdoch-owned New York Post didn't pull its punches either, with its front page suggesting the city was turning communist. But headlines failed to dampen the celebrations, with Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger... Abigail! Abigail! ..and New Jersey's Mikey Sherrill both winning their governorships. We here in New Jersey are bound to fight for a different future for our children. Here in Miami, there's a staggering 13-candidate battle for mayor that's happening, but beyond that, experts say these elections are crucial for the Democrats to find out whether the party has any pulse left in Florida. I think they will be looking at the results for sure to see, to do a litmus test of what's happening. For now, these results mark a great night for Democrats and a clear rejection of Trump and Republicans. That could mean big trouble for the governing party heading into next year's midterms.
