Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel would escalate its attacks on Hezbollah in southern Lebanon if the Lebanese government fails to disarm the group. Netanyahu emphasized Israel's right to self-defense and called on Lebanon to expel Hezbollah from its territory, referencing the existing ceasefire agreement.

The warning has increased tensions surrounding the ceasefire, which was brokered by the United States and France in November of the previous year. Despite the truce, Israel has continued to carry out strikes in Lebanon, and while Hezbollah has been weakened over the past year, it remains armed.

The statement has put further strain on the rocky ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. The truce between the two, brokered by the U.S. and France, was established in November last year. However, Israel has continued to launch frequent strikes at Lebanon. While Hezbollah was significantly weakened in the past year, the group currently remains armed.

Hamas handed over bodies of three hostages on Sunday (November 2), even as the Palestinian militant group traded blame with Israel for violations of the tenuous truce that has mostly halted two years of war.
