This situation is exacerbated by a significant decline in funding for humanitarian aid, which has forced the WFP to reduce or suspend many of its operations in fragile regions across West and Central Africa.

According to the WFP, aid in the region has decreased by 60% compared to the previous year, now reaching only 5 million people. Countries such as Mali and Niger have seen aid cuts of over 80%. The agency announced that, due to ongoing funding shortfalls, it will have to suspend humanitarian assistance in conflict-affected areas from August onwards.
