Meanwhile, Israeli military operations continue in Gaza, with advances toward Gaza City and warnings issued for civilians to move south.

World awaits Hamas' response to Trump's proposed peace plan

Now, we're following developments out of the Middle East for you this morning, as the region awaits Hamas' response to President Trump's 20-point peace proposal to bring an end to nearly two years of war in Gaza. CBS News foreign correspondent Rami Innocencio joins us once again from our London bureau. Rami, at about this time yesterday, you gave us a hint that maybe Hamas could accept a peace plan, but what's the latest on that this morning? Yeah, Errol, well, the latest is that Qatar, one of the key mediators, along with Egypt, is basically saying, slow down. This is coming from Qatar's prime minister himself, who said that President Trump's 20 points are, quote, principles that need to be worked through. And this was in an interview with Al Jazeera based in Qatar, and he zeroed in on the withdrawal of Israel's military from the Strip. The White House's plan has said that Israel would retain control of a perimeter around Gaza, but Arab and Muslim states, they are pushing for a full Israeli withdrawal. Now, off of that, and separately, the Associated Press says that it spoke to three Arab officials, and they said, this is not what we agreed on. This is what they say the Netanyahu plan. Now, there may be other sticking points, but that was the main one mentioned. Meanwhile, got to talk about what's happening in the Strip, and our CBS News producer there tells us that Israeli tanks and bulldozers are advancing on Gaza City from the east, with the aim of cutting off the main road between the north and south. To that point, Israel's defense minister, Israel Katz, in just about the past hour or so, said that this is the last opportunity for people to flee south, and those that remain in Gaza will be considered terrorists. Errol. All right. All right.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Hamas militants have about three or four days to respond to his Gaza peace plan proposal or face the consequences. But Gazans saw little hope in the plan, which was presented to Hamas after Israel had endorsed it as satisfying its war aims.
