Think you know all the things that you should or should not be doing when it comes to wintertime in your car? Well, here's a list of do's and don'ts and see how many of these you are aware of. Let's start with checking your tire pressure. That's a definite do. You should do that during the wintertime because cold temperatures can reduce the pressure in your tires and that can lead to a dangerous blowout. Don't wait until you're on empty to fill up your gas tank. In the wintertime, the cold temperatures could freeze your fuel lines before you get to a station. And how about warming up your car before a trip? Well, this may seem like a good idea, but don't do it. It can damage spark plugs. Also, you may have seen using hot water to defrost your windshield. Don't do that. It's a big no-no as the quick temperature change could crack the glass. Do try to avoid driving in deep snow. That can do a number on your exhaust. And salt used to de-ice the roads, that can be destructive to your car. So take your car to the car wash and do get the undercarriage cleaned as well.
