A youth baseball team from Whitefish Bay is making Wisconsin history as they prepare to compete on the national stage this weekend.

The Whitefish Bay U-13 Little League baseball team has made history as the first Wisconsin team to advance to the Intermediate World Series from the central region. The team, led by standout pitcher Josh Irwin, has demonstrated strong performance throughout their season, remaining undefeated in their all-star run and outscoring their opponents by a wide margin.

Players and coaches expressed excitement about the opportunity to compete on a national and international stage in California. The team will participate in Media Day events, receive special uniforms, and play games televised on ESPN+. Their journey marks a significant achievement for Wisconsin youth baseball.

Whitefish Bay's U-13 Little League baseball team has already made history. Now, the team leaves for California bright and early tomorrow morning. They're competing against the best teams in the U.S. and from around the world. Rod Burks spoke with Coach Kyle and players Josh, Teddy, and Hudson about their special season and the challenge that lies ahead. You might want to keep your eye on the U-13 Whitefish Bay baseball team this weekend. They've already made Wisconsin history and this team is looking to win it all on the national stage. So we're the first ever Wisconsin team ever to advance to the World Series out of the central region for intermediates. We have a lot of speed. We have a very good defense. Very fundamentally sound. We are very deep in pitching. One of the big stars on this team is their ace pitcher Josh Irwin. He's a 6'2", 180-pounder with an 80-mile-an-hour fastball. Our first year making it past state. We've had a lot of close calls in the state championship the last couple of years. I believe we've lost it three times. And so it was a big relief to get past state this year. And Iowa was a big test and we got through. They sure did. And they want more. It's just been really fun just playing with people I've known since like elementary school when I was like 9, 10, growing up with them. Just playing baseball and having fun. Most important part. It'll be a little different. I mean, the cameras are going to be on us. And I think we're going to have the time of our lives. We're not going to be nervous for this opportunity. This is a great opportunity. This team is wheels up on Friday. Fly out Friday morning, 620 a.m. Get in San Francisco, get picked up, brought back to our hotel. We get our uniforms. We get special uniforms there. Media Day with ESPN+, because all the games will be televised on ESPN+. And how about this U13 team here from Whitefish Bay? They roll into this intermediate World Series with a lot of confidence. In their all-star run, they are 9-0. They've scored 113 runs and they've only given up five. I wouldn't bet against them.
