Snowfall patterns across the United States vary significantly by region. While most cities see their highest snowfall in December and January, Alaska's snowiest months are typically October and November. 

The Upper Midwest and Northern Plains experience peak snowfall in December, while snow moves farther south and into the Northeast in January and February. In contrast, some areas in the Rockies receive their heaviest, wettest snow during March and April.

What’s your snowiest month?

While most cities experience their snowiest months in December and January, it's not true for everyone. In fact, much of Alaska experiences their snowiest months in October and November. Locations in the Upper Midwest and the Northern Plains experience their snowiest month in December. That snow begins to move farther south in January and February and shifts to the Northeast. However, some areas in the Rockies experience their snowiest months in March and April, bringing in that heavy, wet spring snow.
