French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, denouncing a shift towards a 'world without rules' in light of recent events involving US President Donald Trump. Macron called for cooperation over imperialism or colonialism, stressing that Europe has strong mechanisms to respond when international rules are not respected.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke at the forum, expressing concern that disputes such as the one over Greenland could distract from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Zelensky urged continued diplomatic engagement from Washington and Europe to address the crisis with Russia.

In a highly anticipated speech at the World Economic Forum, French President Emmanuel Macron denounced what he called a shift towards a world without rules. The French leader said it is not time for new imperialism or new colonialism, but instead a time of cooperation to fix global challenges. Europe has very strong tools now and we have to use them when we are not respected and when the rules of the game are not respected, by the way. The anti-coercion mechanism is a powerful instrument and we should not hesitate to deploy it in today's tough environment. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is worried that the Greenland dispute could shift attention away from Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky urged Washington to continue to engage in diplomatic efforts alongside Europe.
