As tensions mount, the foreign ministers of Greenland and Denmark have arranged to meet the US Vice President and Secretary of State on Wednesday. Our reason for requesting this meeting has been to move this entire discussion, which has not become less tense since we were last there, into a meeting room where you can look each other in the eye. Trump insists the US needs Greenland for national security. Greenland and NATO have said they intend to strengthen the territory's defence. We all agree that when it comes to the protection of the Arctic, we have to work together and that's exactly what we are doing. Some alliance members have floated the idea of launching a new mission in the region, although no concrete proposals are yet on the table.
