A tense second half was ultimately decided in the 87th minute when a Kyrgyzstan own goal gave Vietnam the win. The result earned Vietnam all three points from the fixture.

The teams emerge at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah and it doesn't take long for the drama to unfold. 17 minutes in, Bakit Bek Mirzalim Ulu brings down Nguyen Le Phat in the box. Penalty Vietnam. Khoa Van Khang steps up two minutes later and converts from the spot. 1-0 Vietnam and they're in control. But Kyrgyzstan aren't done. Just before the break, Marlin Mirzak Matov finds the equaliser on 44 minutes. We're level at one all and suddenly this match has life. The second half grinds on, both sides searching for the winner. Then in the 87th minute, disaster for Kyrgyzstan. Christian Brausman turns the ball into his own net. Vietnam lead 2-1 and there's no time left for a response. The final whistle blows and Vietnam escape with all three points.
