The United States is once again outlining a path forward for Venezuela. This week, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke about a three-phase plan that he says would lead to Venezuela's recovery after years of political and economic instability. The U.S. proposal includes phases of stabilization, recovery and political transition. But for many Venezuelans, plans announced by the U.S., with Rubio leading it, feels distant from their daily realities. The economic reactivation is important so we can work. Years of hyperinflation, shortages and mass migration have left deep scars. I don't understand anything that's going on. I would want to be able to work and to have a better salary. Rubio says international pressure and support will be key. But some warn that no recovery is possible without political change inside the country. Marco Rubio's plan is perfect if it's going to bring Venezuela back to what it was in the 1970s. For a generation raised in political and economic strife, hope is cautious. For us, as common citizens who don't have access to information, it's too soon to give a positive or negative answer regarding the situation. For now, the plan remains an outline. And on the streets of Venezuela, recovery is still measured in small things – safety, stability and the choice to stay. While plans are being discussed in Washington, the reaction in Venezuela is mixed between hope and skepticism.
