Yes Urs, the Israeli military instructed residents of Gaza City to move south either by vehicle or by foot as it prepared to launch this latest ground offensive. The pictures you're seeing now show thousands of Palestinians forced to flee carrying all that they can as they desperately head for what's hoped to be safer ground. This follows the ramping up of Israel's bombardment of Gaza City which the UN has warned could put up to 1 million Palestinians at risk of forced displacement. Over the past couple of hours we've seen fresh strikes take out a number of buildings with the fresh attacks flying in the face of international condemnation. These developments come as a United Nations inquiry today ruled Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide in Gaza. The big question now is how will our government and other international leaders respond to this ruling by the UN and could we see legitimate sanctions placed on Israel? We recommend all member states especially those with influence over Israel to effect an immediate halt to the killing and harming of civilians in Gaza to guarantee humanitarian access to Gaza and to prevent further destruction of life and suspend arms transfers or financial assistance that could contribute to further genocidal acts. This report follows a two-year investigation with the UN Human Rights Council concluding the Israeli military intended to kill as many Palestinians as possible citing direct targeting of civilians including children. Tonight Israel has rejected these findings.
