Ukraine's defense industry is rapidly developing long-range weapons that rival Western capabilities. The country has unveiled its Neptune missiles with a 1,000km range, surpassing the reach of Western-supplied arms.

Ukraine has unveiled new domestically produced long-range missiles, including an upgraded Neptune missile with a range of 1,000 kilometres and the Flamingo FP5 cruise missile, which can strike targets up to 3,000 kilometres away. These weapons are being used to target Russian economic assets, particularly oil and gas infrastructure, as part of a broader campaign to degrade Russia's wartime economy.

With Western countries, particularly the United States, restricting the use of their supplied weapons for attacks deep inside Russia, Ukraine's independent missile production allows it to bypass these limitations. Production of the Flamingo missile is set to increase significantly, potentially impacting Russia's industrial output and its ability to sustain the war. Ukrainian officials have indicated that more advanced missiles with greater range and power are expected to become operational soon.

The latest weapon to be showcased and made in Ukraine, the long-range Neptune missile. Adapted from an earlier model, it now has a 1,000-kilometre range and can reach targets deeper into Russia than anything the West has provided. These new missiles and drones are being used to hit Russian economic targets. The United States has banned Ukraine from using American-made weapons to hit targets deep inside Russia. But since they're Ukrainian-made, President Zelensky doesn't need anyone's permission to use them. We use our domestically produced long-range weapons, and to be honest, we haven't been discussing such issues with the United States of America lately. New missiles and drones are being churned out by both countries as a way to get round the stalemate on the battlefield. Ukraine has been running a campaign to degrade Russia's economy. One weapon which has the potential to be a game-changer is the Flamingo FP5 cruise missile, which Ukraine says can hit targets with over a tonne of explosives far deeper into Russia than ever before. The maximum range is 3,000 kilometres confirmed, with an accuracy of 14 metres to target on this distance. The maximum speed is 900 kilometres per hour. Production for the Flamingo missile is about to increase dramatically, which could prove devastating to Russia's wartime economy, heavily reliant on oil and gas exports. Just recently, we heard that around 15% of Russian refinery capacity has been degraded through these strikes. But now, if you add to that a heavy missile capability like the Flamingo or a comparable weapon system produced in large numbers, you know, we're talking about at least several dozen a month, if not hundreds a month, then that really could cause trouble for Russia's economic and industrial output and really complicate sustaining the war on the Russian side. President Zelensky has said more missiles of greater range and power are due to come online, giving Kiev the ability to hit more and more targets inside Russia.
