A tragic incident occurred during the final week of a Miami sailing camp when a barge struck a sailboat carrying five children and a camp counselor. The collision caused all six individuals to be thrown into the water, with several reportedly trapped under the barge. Two children were killed, and two others were injured, one critically. Emergency responders arrived promptly, rescuing the passengers and transporting the injured to hospital. The children were part of the Miami Youth Sailing Foundation, affiliated with the Miami Yacht Club.

The kids were in their last week of sailing camp in Miami when a barge hit their boat and sank it. The boat had been carrying a camp counselor and five kids. Two of the children were killed. Two others were injured, one of them critically. Christiane Benavides has the latest from Miami. We got two divers in the water at this time. Copy, two divers in the water. According to Florida Fish and Wildlife investigators, a barge collided with a sailboat carrying six passengers. This video shows the moment of impact. Five children and a camp counselor were on board at the time. All of them were members of the Miami Youth Sailing Foundation, part of a summer camp offered by the Miami Yacht Club. All six individuals were thrown into the water with several reportedly trapped under the barge. First responders quickly dove into the water to save them. It was a collective effort by all agencies. They worked very swiftly to get these individuals out of the water. Four of the children between the ages of eight and 12 were taken to the hospital, three in critical condition. One child and the counselor were evaluated at the seat, but were not hospitalized. Jordan Schwartz saw the massive response from his home on nearby Hibiscus Island. I saw one of the children in the, what do you call it? The chair and put into the ambulance and then the ambulance drove off. Late this afternoon, we learned two of those children have died. Another one remains in critical condition. At this time, officials have set up.
