The decision has provoked significant public outcry and disbelief from the man's lawyer. While death sentences have been issued in Tunisia before, none have been carried out in decades, according to Reuters.

Death sentences have been occasionally handed down in Tunisia, but none have been carried out for decades, according to news agency Reuters.
