He reiterated his support for deploying National Guard troops and federal agents to Washington, D.C., and proposed seeking the death penalty for homicide cases in the city. Trump also commented on the ongoing wars in Gaza and Ukraine, describing diplomatic efforts as posturing. In a lighter moment, he wished Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift well following news of their engagement.

If somebody kills somebody in the capital, Washington, D.C., we're going to be seeking the death penalty. That is an antiquated approach. Chicago's mayor had brushed aside Trump's continued pointed criticism of his city's approach to crime, an issue that the president thinks helps define the Republican Party now. Trump also weighed in on the war in Gaza and Russian intransigence in ending the war in Ukraine. It doesn't matter what they say. Everybody's posturing. It's all bull. Everybody's posturing. And finally, the president was asked about what some believe was the biggest news of the day. Travis Kelsey popping the question to Taylor Swift. Well, I wish him a lot of love. I think it's I think he's a great player. I think he's a great guy. I think that she's a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of love.
