The president will arrive in the UK for a three-day state visit. The two countries looking to strengthen relations and deliver a series of announcements focused on their financial ties. Deals have been leading the agenda ahead of Trump's visit with a slew of U.S. firms making and eyeing U.K. investments. BlackRock has announced a £500 million investment into U.K. data centres. Alphabet also unveiling a £5 billion investment in British AI. Also confirmed is a deal focused on development of nuclear power. We'll discuss that in a few moments' time. Set to be signed during Trump's visit. A person familiar with the matter also confirmed to CNBC that OpenAI and NVIDIA are in talks about a major deal to support U.K. data centre development. And private equity giant Blackstone set to pledge $100 billion of investments in the U.K. over the next decade. All right, let's call it how it is. These are very much ceremonial events. When you see a foreign dignitary being sent around the open land, out of a carriage around Windsor or Buckingham Palace or wherever it may well be, it is a use of the U.K. soft power. Love or loathe, Meghan? Love or loathe, Harry? You know, they're still... The X-Factories, because of their royal links as well. Of course, they're not in the family at the moment. They're kind of a little bit estranged. But it's the soft power of the U.K. And President Trump clearly loves that as well. He loved the signed letter from Prince Charles. But I don't think one can say, oh, it's just a coincidence that all these deals are happening, regardless of the state visit and the buttering up of the US president and the trade deal that's been announced. The fact of the matter is, there's a lot of things going on. But clearly, these US firms see an opportunity. And given the fact that the U.K. and the US look like they are on a quite tight rapprochement, even though we have no FTA, there is no full trade agreement, there will be a smaller trade deal at some stage. So I think it's very important to say, yes, a lot of these deals are not to do with the president himself. But I don't think it hurts, the fact that the president is having this state visit and the links are quite close at the moment. I think for Keir Starmer, one of the bright points of his leadership so far has been his global diplomacy. And he has done, by most people's estimation, a good job on the diplomatic front. And if we do see a successful state visit this time around, that would just continue that narrative that Keir Starmer is doing a good job when it comes to diplomacy, in contrast to what's happening domestically and all the pressure he's under politically here in the U.K. And tying those two things together, just this morning, we got fresh labor market data out of the U.K., showing that job creation is still a huge issue in the U.K. And part of what Keir Starmer will look to do with these deals, billions of dollars of investment coming into the U.K. via these U.S. tech companies, he's going to bill it as an opportunity to create jobs. But still a huge number of open questions around how many jobs this will actually lead to, what kind of job creation this will lead to. But the numbers are pretty significant here. Alphabet looking to invest £5 billion in U.K. AI. We're looking at a huge amount from OpenAI NVIDIA, according to reports, as well, at BlackRock as well. So these deals come at an important time for Keir Starmer, who's trying to create jobs, trying to create growth. But how much growth, how many jobs, huge open questions.
