Homan was previously investigated during the Biden administration for allegedly accepting $50,000 in cash in exchange for promises of government action if Trump won the election. The transaction was reportedly captured on video as part of an FBI sting operation. 

The White House has stated that Homan did not accept the money and characterized the investigation as politically motivated. Additionally, the administration has faced scrutiny for urging legal action against high-profile critics and for changes in federal prosecutorial appointments.

Meanwhile, CBS News has learned the administration dropped a criminal investigation of Trump's border czar, Tom Homan. Homan was probed during the Biden administration for accepting $50,000 in cash last September in return for promises of government action if Trump won the election.
