It's just an incredible feeling, a little bit surreal, but I'm really grateful. I've gotten to do the sport that I absolutely love, and it's really shaped me, you know, on the track, but also off of it. I think it's really, it's led me to purpose in a lot of different ways. And so that's why I'm just so grateful for everything that sport has provided me with. If you were to get in a time machine and go back and see a younger Alison, and you were going to talk to her about the life that she was going to have, what kind of little girl do you think you would have found, and what would you have told her? A shy little girl who never would have imagined any of this, but I would have told her to be patient, to not be afraid of failure, and go after your wildest dreams. I think that's the advice that I could have used along my path. So how did you navigate failure when you were starting out? You know, I had to really go through it. I went through some dark moments and different points of my career. You know, in my eyes, I felt like I had failed on the biggest stage, and I learned a lot of lessons. I think all that failure, all that disappointment really allowed me to have success later on, and it also allowed me to find my voice and to understand that it was more than just running for me. And that took a while to get there, but really grateful that I eventually found my way and able to go after other passions as well. When we discuss your story, your journey, your career, it's clear how much you've changed kind of like throughout this whole process, and I know that you have expressed the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone, which is very, very difficult for so many people to do. How did becoming a mother, do you think, help you with that? I mean, it helped me find my voice. You're exactly right, and it was really scary. You know, it's not something that I was used to, but I think when you are now responsible for someone else and you see them in this world, for me, even though there was never a point that I was ready or very confident in speaking, I knew that it wasn't just about me, and that's really what gave me that final push forward. So you're now a member of the IOC's Athletes Commission. How are you helping to put your mark, I suppose, in a different way on future games? I'm trying to listen to the athletes, you know, and hear what they need. In Paris, we were able to bring a nursery to the Olympic Village, and that was huge. And so more things like that, you know, standing up for their mental health and just being an advocate for the athlete voice. I don't know if you would ever have expected or thought that there would be a female president of the International Olympic Committee, but we now have that in Kirsty Coventry. How do you think her election is going to change the face of the Olympics for everybody, but particularly for women? Yeah, I mean, it's really exciting to see that representation and to have, you know, a really fresh perspective. And also, you know, she is an athlete. You know, she is an Olympic champion, and she understands, you know, the athlete position as well. And so I think that there will be a level of understanding there. And I'm excited for kind of a new chapter.
