August is packed with some amazing astronomy events, from the Sturgeon Moon to the Perseid Meteor Shower. First up, the Sturgeon Moon. This is on August 8th and 9th. It's named after the large fish found in the Great Lakes and is the final full moon of meteorological summer. Next up, on August 12th, before daybreak, you can catch the Jupiter-Venus Conjunction. These two bright planets will shine side by side. It's best seen between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. And then, we have the Perseid Meteor Shower. This peaks on the night of August 12th into the early morning of August 13th. Now, moonlight will reduce visibility, but you can still spot 10 to 20 meteors per hour if you go to darker areas of the sky, you know, away from city lights and all of that.
