Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev talks about how tokenization could radically change capital markets. Tenev spoke with Carlyle Co-Founder & Co-Chairman David Rubenstein for an episode of Bloomberg Wealth.

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev described tokenization as the most significant innovation in capital markets since the introduction of the central limit order book. He believes tokenization has the potential to fundamentally change how capital markets operate. Tenev also noted that Robinhood's scale and resources could help ensure the success and adoption of this technology.

Reflecting on past innovations, Tenev cited zero-commission trading and mobile finance as industry-changing developments, with Robinhood playing a key role. He expressed enthusiasm for continuing to pursue new advancements in financial technology.

Tokenization could change everything in capital markets, says Tenev

Today you are a major force in the financial services world. And I guess you've got a lot of people want to give you money and they want to invest with you and so forth. What is the greatest thrill that you're getting out of doing this. I think my motivation is creating new things like if you if you create new things that are more useful and become the standard. That's really what gets me excited. And I think in a business context that's innovation. You know we talked about tokenization earlier. I think tokenization is the biggest innovation in capital markets since the central limit order book. Right. I think it could change everything. And to have the opportunity to not just like attack that innovation but bring with it the scale and the resources of Robin Hood so that it could actually get the highest chance of succeeding and taking hold. Gets me very excited. Of course zero commissions is what was an industry changing innovation. Mobile finance and FinTech in general I think was aided by by the rise of Robin Hood. But I always like to think about the new things and in the future.
