The eighth annual back-to-school bash, led by wrestler Titus O'Neil and the Bullard Family Foundation, was held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The event provided thousands of families with free backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as dental, medical, and eye exams for both children and parents.

O'Neil credited the success of the event to the dedication of volunteers, many of whom have participated for years and become like family. The event not only eases the financial burden on parents but also inspires attendees and volunteers to give back to their community.

It's an event that we talk about every year, but what can fly under the radar is the impact that it has on these families. ABC Action News reporter Blake Phillips took a different look at this year and what it means for our community for the thousands of people who came through the gates at Raymond James Saturday. The back to school bash was just that a party that eases the pressure on parents trying to buy school supplies this time of year. And for Isaiah Shepherd, he thinks his dad is his hero. It means a lot because some people can't afford that type of stuff. So come here, helps people be like, prepare. And his dad says another real hero, the guy behind it all legendary wrestler Titus O'Neill. You don't gotta have a cake to be a hero. You feel me? There was, of course, the free backpacks loaded with school supplies. But this year, Titus O'Neill and the Bullard Family Foundation was also able to offer free dental, medical and eye exams, not just to the kids, but to the parents as well. It's overwhelming, to be honest with you, but overwhelming with joy. O'Neill says this all wouldn't be possible without the army of volunteers. See that these people consistently have come out for the last eight years. Many of them have become family to me. And the work he and the volunteers put in also inspires others putting the foundation out. So when these guys make it to wherever professional life they're doing, they bear to come back and serve the community just like Titus O'Neill. I went back inside, you know, be a coach and try to give back and seeing what Titus O'Neill does every year for the back to school event. I appreciate that to the fullest. And yes, Saturday was hot, but there was no place these folks would rather be. I'd rather be out here sweating with tears of joy and seeing people with smiles on their faces, knowing that these families are getting their needs met.
