City representatives indicated that private funding is being considered to reinstate these closures, and police have blocked additional roads for pedestrian safety during Comic-Con. While opinions differ on the street closures, many attendees are enjoying the car-free environment and festive atmosphere.

Fifth Avenue is closed for Comic-Con. While some might be used to that for Padres games and nights out on the town, it hasn't really been the case over the last few months. However, the ballers are up as thousands of people take to the streets to enjoy some of the activities that have taken over the streets. Let's go check some of them out. San Diego Comic-Con! You get a lot of artists out there, singers, magicians, people doing different types of activities, and it's the meeting point. Just across from the convention center, the streets came alive. Country roads, take me home. And if you're hearing music in the street, well, it's not exactly a band going on. It's regular people enjoying Comic-Con and doing some karaoke over there, singing on the street. And I feel a little inspired to sing myself. E-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi. E-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi. First snow was a break. And apart from the crowds, another thing you're gonna see on Fifth Avenue are lines, long lines of people waiting for fan installations, fun experiences, and of course, food. There's a lot of restaurants around here, and they are packed to the brim with people hungry for a bite to eat. So they'll wait a little bit longer. I will say, in some of these other places, it was almost an hour wait. So we got really lucky here. With the streets closed, some locals say they miss when this happened regularly, before the funding for the Bollards blocking off Fifth Avenue was no longer available. The vibe is to be on the street, you know, and shut it down, and pushing people to the sidewalks and stuff. And look here at Comic-Con, it's shut down here, and this is what you get. Private funding is being explored to possibly bring the Bollards back. A city representative told us, police blocked off some extra roads for Comic-Con for foot traffic safety. While some were okay with the cars coming through normally. I mean, we should be minding the people who are driving and have places to go. Plenty are welcoming the car-free celebration.
