There are just ten days to go until the opening ceremony in Paris. Volunteers from all over France are giving their time free of charge to help make the games an event to remember.

Volunteers are gearing up to ensure a memorable Paris 2024 Olympics. One of France's iconic landmarks, Chateau de Versailles' Grand Canal, will host the equestrian events, showcasing the world's top horsemen and women. Among the dedicated volunteers is Mark Swann Poe, who will handle medal ceremony duties, describing the upcoming experience as "the mission of a lifetime."

With meticulous planning in a Paris suburban studio, volunteers rehearse every move to ensure precision. Despite their varied backgrounds and ages, all 45,000 volunteers share a sense of excitement and commitment. The uniforms, styled in the Games' colours and complete with headgear, add an element of fun.

Language preparation is also a key focus. Clermy Chargier from Evreux in Normandy, is polishing her English skills to assist spectators at the Parc de France. Ali Chirardin, looking forward to his role on a Paris bridge during the triathlon event, expressed his anticipation of being close to the athletes. As the final preparations continue, eager volunteers look forward to contributing to an unforgettable Olympic atmosphere.



Ten days to Paris 2024 Olympics

Right by the Chateau de Versailles' Grand Canal, the world's best horsemen and women will face off on the equestrian events, and Mark Swann Poe will be right in the thick of it as a volunteer for the medal ceremonies. I'm going to have to put a lot of things behind me, all the cameras, the pressure. It's the mission of a lifetime. The ceremonies are meticulously planned in this studio in the suburbs of Paris. The selected volunteers, none of whom are paid, rehearse every little action. They told us the choreography has to be perfect. We have to be in the right place at the right time. And for me, it's a transition because I'm retiring in two weeks, and I'm embarking on something fabulous. Whatever the volunteers' backgrounds or age, it's bound to be emotional. Being part of an event like this, it's incredible. Is it a dream come true? Oh yes. In all, 45,000 volunteers have been recruited to help at the Games. We're going to have iconic sights, sporting performances to remember, and an atmosphere that the volunteers are going to really contribute to. Clothes are kitted out in the colours of the Games, headgear included. It makes the clothes a bit more fun. From a language point of view, everything's ready. Do you like your uniform? In Evreux, in Normandy, the final English lessons for volunteers like Clermy Chargier, who will greet spectators at the Parc de France. Speaking English helps me a lot. It gives me the confidence to deal with people and answer their questions. Ali Chirardin will be stationed on a bridge in Paris at the start and finish of the triathlon. I wanted to be at the heart of the event, and then to be close to the athletes is the holy grail, isn't it? And there's just a few days left for a revision before the Games begin.
