Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is moving forward with plans to take over Gaza City in spite of growing international pressure against it. While most E.U. officials have shied away from calling Israel's actions a genocide, Teresa Ribeiro, executive vice president of the European Commission, did just that, speaking to students at Sciences Po in Paris on Thursday. The genocide in Gaza exposes Europe's failure to act and speak with one voice, even as protests spread across European cities, and 14 United Nations Security Council members called for an immediate ceasefire. The vast majority of Gazans are already displaced, but a senior Israeli military official said the coming offensive would push an estimated one million Palestinians south, away from Gaza City.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is wrapping up a two-day trip to Latin America. It comes as the countries in the region watch the Trump administration step up military activity in the area, to combat drug trafficking and illegal migration.
