The violence resulted in more than 30 deaths and over 100 injuries, with government forces intervening following abductions and attacks by both sides.

The ceasefire was reached in coordination with local notables and dignitaries. The Syrian government stated its conflict is with outlawed gangs rather than any specific community. The situation was further complicated by Israeli airstrikes targeting Syrian tanks near Suwayda, with Israel stating it would act against any military threat in southern Syria.

Fighting in the early hours of Tuesday between Syrian government forces and armed groups they call outlaws. More than 30 people have been killed and over 100 wounded in the fighting over the past few days. Armed groups from the Druze and Sunni Bedouin tribes began fighting on Friday. Abductions and attacks by both sides prompted the government to send reinforcements to defuse the situation. But there was an ambush of a Ministry of Defense dispatch and 18 soldiers were killed. Dead bodies were seen desecrated in videos posted to social media. There is fundamentally no hostility between the state and the spiritual leaders, nor between the state and the factions in Iswaida. The Syrian state's issue lies in its pursuit of outlawed gangs, groups that have antagonized the majority of Iswaida's residents, who have suffered under them for months, even before the liberation. Today, the real conflict is between the state and bandits and criminals, not between the state and any Syrian community. Tensions have been brewing between the Druze minority and the Ahmad Ashara government. After earlier fighting in recent months, locals were hired by security forces to mend fences. But some members posted inflammatory remarks on social media, and that caused further mistrust. Initial statements by the Druze spiritual leadership called for an international protection and accused government forces of being part of the attack on the city. The situation has further escalated with multiple Israeli drone and airstrikes they claim are in support of Druze fighters. A statement from Israel's army confirmed it struck tanks advancing towards Iswaida, adding the army will not allow the establishment of a military threat in southern Syria and will operate against it. The latest fighting goes to show the delicate task of maintaining a fragile balance. The government has to prove it is in charge by establishing its writ, while also making sure that it does not trample upon the rights of many of Syria's diverse groups. And with Israel's ongoing attacks and occupation, it also has an additional challenge.
