Authorities say the operation is part of a broader investigation into a transnational organised crime network believed to be operating out of South East Asia. Police are also examining potential links between the syndicate and recent violent crimes in Sydney, including the abduction and murder of Thai Kim Tran and a foiled attempted murder outside a daycare centre. Police have indicated that further arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

Both accused of carrying 20 plates of heroin and 10 kilos of cocaine and charged with drug supply and participating in a criminal group. Officers raided five alleged safe houses across four Sydney suburbs yesterday afternoon, arresting another 26-year-old man in Bonnyrig Heights. They seized 415 kilograms of drugs, almost half a million dollars in cash, a ballistics vest and three guns. Some of those magazines holding up to 30 rounds, so that's quite concerning. Those magazines are out in the public and they're put into a semi-automatic firearm. It can be catastrophic. It's all the result of a strike force probe investigating a transnational organised crime network operating out of South East Asia. We believe there's a number of different silos that are operating on behalf of this organised crime group which we allege are operated out of South East Asia. Police are looking at possible links between the syndicate and other allegations of violent crimes that have recently rocked Sydney. That includes the abduction and murder of Bankstown mum, Thai Kim Tran, in April, which detectives believe was orchestrated by a group allegedly helmed by former Sydney man, Daniel Rodney Badger, and an alleged hit outside a Sydney daycare centre that was last week foiled by police. Highly likely that there are some links in terms of certain entities around that incident that occurred last week where we stopped the imminent murder. Police hope that yesterday's drug bust sends a message as the surge continues for more people involved with the criminal network on Australian shores, warning there will be more arrests.
