He emphasized American commitment to the peace process, stating that rebuilding efforts in Gaza would begin promptly and praising Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his leadership in reaching the agreement.

Trump is scheduled to meet with hostage families, address the Israeli parliament, and oversee a peace ceremony in Egypt. While concerns remain about Hamas's adherence to the deal, the US administration has pledged to keep up diplomatic pressure and deploy troops to monitor the ceasefire, clarifying that American forces will not enter Gaza.

I think people are, a lot of reasons why it's going to hold. But I think people are tired of it. Promising that the rebuilding of Gaza will begin almost immediately. It's a very, it's blasted, this is like a demolition site. Trump also offered praise for the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after he pressured the Israeli leader into accepting a deal. He's a wartime president, he did a very good job. I had some disputes with him and they were quickly settled. I think he was the right person at this time. Trump is being urged to maintain pressure on Netanyahu as this process plays out. The barrier here has been Netanyahu and Netanyahu is only going to move if he thinks that his relationship with the United States is at risk. And so clearly the pressure is going to have to continue to be strong and constant. And there are fears Hamas will not abide by the deal. I'm concerned that they may change their minds here. They're in a challenging spot. With Trump getting bipartisan credit and praise his administration is vowing to remain deeply involved. It is going to take consistent leverage and consistent pressure from the president of the United States on down. U.S. troops in the region will act as a ceasefire monitoring force. As peacekeeping plans are developed American forces will not go into Gaza. Katie Simpson, CBC News, Washington.
