The US Supreme Court has refused to consider an appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking. Maxwell's lawyers contended that she should not have been prosecuted due to a 2007 non-prosecution agreement with Jeffrey Epstein, which they argued also covered his alleged co-conspirators. The Supreme Court did not provide any explanation for its decision to reject the appeal. Maxwell was convicted for her role in luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by Epstein during the 1990s and early 2000s. Epstein died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on related charges.
