Desperately-needed humanitarian aid has arrived in Port Sudan as the fighting in the country rages on. The war, which broke out in 2023, has triggered what the U.N describes as the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

A shipment of 2,428 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including food and shelter materials, has arrived in Port Sudan through a joint Turkish-Qatari initiative. This marks the first cargo ship from this cooperation to reach the city, providing much-needed relief as the conflict in Sudan persists.

The ongoing fighting, which began in April 2023, has displaced at least 145,000 families to El Obeid and 15,000 people in White Nile state, with numbers continuing to rise. The United Nations has described the crisis in Sudan as the worst humanitarian emergency globally.

Regarding the state of White Nile, 15,000 people were displaced and the numbers are still increasing as displacement continues. It is not possible to know the exact number of displaced people because the situation is still ongoing.
