According to the study, Australia ranked third, behind the United States and the United Kingdom, in terms of how often people use swear words. The finding was unexpected even for the study’s lead researcher.

On the University of Queensland campus, some students expressed concern about the impact of swearing online, noting that it could affect future employment opportunities. They highlighted that potential employers might use online language as a reason not to hire someone.

Additional research is underway at the University of Queensland, focusing on the use of swearing in daily social interactions. Preliminary findings indicate that people in the UK and Australia are particularly creative in their use of bad language. Some respondents suggested that swearing has become a common and accepted part of Australian culture.
