The risk for severe storms is rumbling from Texas to Ohio, including a tornado threat.

A significant weather system is moving eastward from the Plains into the Ohio Valley, delivering both beneficial rainfall to drought-stricken regions and hazardous conditions such as flooding, gusty winds, hail, and tornado threats. The storms have prompted multiple severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings, particularly in areas including Michigan, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Ohio.

In Ohio, tornado warnings have been issued for Highland and Adams counties, with radar indicating signs of rotation. The severe weather is expected to continue expanding eastward, with authorities urging residents to monitor weather alerts and seek shelter when necessary. The risk of flash flooding and additional severe storms remains high as the system progresses.

Storms shift east from the Plains to the Ohio Valley

And right now, much needed rain is returning to many of these areas, including the south central U. S. With some storms that will be breaking out from texas into the mid south through the middle of the week. Rain is going to ease drought, but also bring flooding downpours, gusty winds and hail in the northeast. A warm start gives way to showers and a few storms by Tuesday. A welcome change for drought hit areas, though some severe weather possible. We're taking to Oxford Mississippi now to get into our top story, looking at that main area of severe weather. Uh, and you know, I can't tell if the road is wet there or not. I think it is. I do think it is. It's difficult to see from that, but you can see the dark pavement as well in the sidewalks and so forth. So a steady rain falling in some parts of northeast Mississippi, thunderstorms elsewhere. I want to briefly take us up just because there was recently a brand new tornado warning issued here east northeast of Traverse City, Michigan. Then we'll jump back down to the south central. But while we do have the radar here, I wanted to show you this hook. This is a nasty little hook on the cell near Bel Air, Michigan. Be aware. So again, pretty well defined hook on the radar, even just with their straight up reflectivity pulling east of the Grand Traverse Bay. Looking at the velocity scan here, I'm gonna get myself oriented with the radar site, the radar sites to the east and overall the green inbound red outbound. So there is some rotation that is pretty well co located with the hook that you would see. So Bel Air and other points here east northeast through Antrim County of Michigan tornado warning in effect for you until 6 45. We got some issues here in the Green River, Chestonia in Michigan, and we'll be looking at some other severe hazards in other parts of the country here and is gonna be taking a look at the Ohio Valley and points east. But we also have some severe storms on the map into areas of eastern Arkansas, northwest Mississippi, Clarksdale, also Mariana Arkansas in Phillips County of Arkansas, southern and southwestern Lee County. First to see the storms move into the Mariana area and then also on the Mississippi side into Kohoma County, Quitman County and Tallahatchie County were facing a severe thunderstorm or two or three there as well. The severe threat of flooding in the Beaumont Port Arthur area has recently diminished, which is good news. But we're also tracking some storms that are just going to begin to get going here into the big country of Texas. So we have some concerns there as well. Flash flooding is gonna be an issue here in northern Arkansas, southern Minnesota or southern Missus southern parts of Missouri, I should say, and a little bit of northern Mississippi. But that expands east into more of Kentucky and we got some heat out there. 96 is in Lubbock and Odessa in Austin, Texas. Very steamy for some others cooling back down mid sixties and Flagstaff. The severe risk continues to move east here. It will be expanding tonight, becoming more robust in southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma and also into eastern Nebraska and western parts of Iowa. So some of this is tricky because it will be breaking out of some people go to sleep at it. But right now, with many still awake, we got severe weather rumbling through the Ohio Valley. Yeah, and really not great timing for this. It's that time of the evening. People are still out and about. They're still getting home from work. So certainly one of those times that you want your Accuweather app sending you those post notifications about any watches and warnings that are issued for your area. So looking at the big picture here, you can see thunderstorms moving in their way into the northeast, but it's the Ohio Valley. That's really the focus. Now I'm gonna take us to a different view of the radar now so that we can zoom in here and give you a better picture of exactly what's going on. Now I mentioned at the top of the half hour here, a messy set up with this line of thunderstorms. And the reason I'm saying that I mean, you see all of the severe thunderstorm warnings and then now are two tornado warnings. Now, one of these has been ongoing for at least 15 minutes or so at this point, but another one issued a little bit more recently here. So switching to the closer radar site here, I believe the Wilmington radar site here to give you a better picture of exactly what's going on. Zooming into one of these. This is Highland, Ohio, and even parts of Adams County are included in this. So Highland and Adams counties here looking at our signs of rotation. We do see that inbound and outbound wind. So giving you that radar indication that yes, this is why we have the tornado warning. Not strongest signs of rotation necessarily here, but certainly enough that you should be seeking shelter. You should be getting to the lowest level of your home or whatever building you are in your tornado safe location. Not just here, but we had farther south to this other tornado warning that has been ongoing for a little bit longer and actually just extended here into Adams County, Ohio here. So straddling the Ohio Kentucky lines here with this whole line of thunderstorms again, looking at our signs of rotation, we're seeing some stronger signs here, some couplets where we have more of the red and the green closer together. Those signs of when going towards and away from the radar site here. So anybody in the back in the path of this line of thunderstorms, you want to make sure that you are saying whether or where you have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings because I would expect more tornado warnings and more severe thunderstorm warnings coming from this line over the next half hour hour or so until we think see things start to weekend.
