From lake-effect snow to thunderstorms to an atmospheric river, here's a rundown of all the weather patterns across the U.S. that could affect your travel plans from Wednesday to Black Friday.

Areas such as Green Bay, New York City, and Portland are expected to experience the most significant delays, particularly at airports, due to poor weather conditions.

The transition from thunderstorms to snow is expected as cold air moves in, with a cross-country storm system developing and affecting travel from the Northwest to the East Coast. Travelers are advised to allow extra time, monitor airline notifications, and prepare for potential disruptions, especially on the busiest travel days and around the Great Lakes and Northeast.

a couple different storms that are really going to create a messy situation, especially as we head into tomorrow, the busiest travel day of the season. Overall, a lot of alerts here related to snow related to wind mainly or the different categories here. But let's break it down a little bit more. I want to start off with where you're most likely to face flight delays. Now, some of this applies to slowdowns on the road as well, but especially focused in on the airports. The worst of it, where I've given you the red light for poor conditions into Green Bay. We have the snow. We have the wind. That is not a good combination. Gets a little bit better Thursday and Friday, but still fair conditions. We got the yellow light. Expect some delays. Now, Atlanta, we were really focused on you earlier today. We had a ground stop at one point because of the severe weather moving through tomorrow. A little bit better, but we still could see some delays. Things really improved Thursday and Friday, though everywhere else. New York, New York City specifically. But you're seeing video in Rochester, New York. We could see some delays there as well. Everybody else. You have the yellow light really the next several days as we deal with mainly wind and snow. In most of these areas, the Portland, it's the wind and the rain. So what all can we expect? Let's dive into this a little bit deeper. Overall, it's the thunderstorms that we've been tracking that Jeff was talking about tomorrow, though our attention really starts to shift from the thunderstorms to the snow. Cold air advances behind the cold front with the thunderstorms that allows for more snow compared to rain. Moving forward in the northwest, though it is thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, gusty winds. That is the problem here. So specifically looking at your Wednesday, we've got a map. We've got it all categorized here. The green, yellow and red lights. Once again, it's the snow and the wind that bring the red light poor conditions overall, but several areas, including really the whole East Coast, expect some delays with those fair conditions and especially you know how it's a domino effect at the airport. You get a couple of delays. It ends up impacting more than you might expect. Make sure you give yourself some extra time tomorrow. Want to make sure you have the airline app downloaded. Also, if you're flying that way, you can get put get push notifications when there are delays helps you plan accordingly a little bit faster as well. Take a look at future radar, how these storms play out and how we see that switch over from rain and thunderstorms to then snow. It really happens throughout the day Wednesday as the core of this storm system, that area of low pressure starts to move over the Great Lakes. And then we say, hello, Lake effect snow. Now also turn your attention to the northwest, where that storm starts to move inland because we're stopping the clock Thursday morning. So Thanksgiving morning we had throughout the rest of the weekend into the weekend. It's that northwest storm that starts to move inland and really starts to create some problems. You start to see some of the rainfall develop, but we're gonna end up with really a cross country storm. That time of year, snow to the north, wintry mix in the middle and rain and thunderstorms to the south. I do want to show you, though, Thursday, anyone traveling on Thanksgiving itself. I know. Usually it's a shorter distance, but especially around the Great Lakes in the northeast, we have some problems and we're watching New York City. The wind that is going to cause some problems, possibly for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as well. And then you're seeing how the storm is progressing from the northwest further inland, creating some of those delays. Overall, though, Thursday, Friday, it's the cold air and it's the snow that really takes the headlines here.
