The Met Office issued a rare red weather warning for southwestern England, while local authorities reported blocked roads, unstable buildings, and widespread power outages affecting tens of thousands of residents.

In France, strong winds left over 300,000 homes without electricity, primarily in Normandy. Heavy snow caused significant disruptions in Germany, Denmark, and the Czech Republic, including major train delays in Hamburg and flight cancellations in Prague.

Storm Goretti continued making its way through Europe on Friday, now bringing high winds and rain across northern France and southern England, as well as more snow to other parts of Europe. The Met Office, Britain's national weather service, issued a rare red weather warning its highest in southwestern England for Thursday evening. Local government officials reported blocked roads, unstable buildings and power outages that even left some people without water. More than 57,000 people were without power across southwestern England, the Midlands and Wales, according to National Grid, which runs the country's electricity transmission network. Strong winds also battered France, leaving more than 300,000 homes without power. Most of the outages were concentrated in the Normandy region. Meanwhile, Germany, Denmark and the Czech Republic were dealing with disruptions caused by heavy snow. Major train disruptions were reported in the German city of Hamburg. In Prague, snowfall caused minor traffic disruptions, including the cancellation of two flights at Prague Airport.

Iran's army is threatening to join the crackdown on protesters as demonstrations against the regime grow and the death toll mounts. Huge crowds have taken to the streets across the Islamic Republic. Iran's Revolutionary Guard calls them "terrorists." Haley Ott has more details.
