After the jubilation in Israel of the return of the last Gaza hostages, stories of their time in captivity, hidden away in tents and tunnels, are emerging. Some described being tortured and tormented during their detention.

Recently freed Israeli hostages have begun recounting their experiences in captivity, with reports of harsh treatment emerging. Eviatar David, one of the former hostages, appeared visibly weakened upon release and is undergoing medical evaluation, with doctors noting signs of both physical and psychological trauma. Another former hostage, Guy Gilboa Dalal, reported being subjected to daily beatings, starvation, and psychological manipulation, including being told his family had abandoned him.

Medical professionals are still assessing the long-term health impacts on the released hostages, while the bodies of three other Israeli hostages have been returned. Several hostages are believed to remain in Gaza, as families and authorities continue to seek their return.

Stories start to emerge over Israeli hostages' detention conditions

Former hostage Eviatar David returns a survivor and can finally hug his brother and sister. I'm so happy to have you in my arms. I've waited for this for so long. Us too, so long. Tears of relief came as no surprise. These were the last pictures that Eviatar's siblings had seen of him, part of a Hamas propaganda campaign where he had been forced to dig his own grave. Eviatar looks emaciated and very weak. He looks stronger now, but doctors say it's too early to tell how healthy he actually is. We can see from the blood test that some of the results are sort of artificial ones because they gave him recently all kinds of pills, vitamins, they told us they're being given. But each one of them have his own scars, marks, signs of all things that really tells part of the story of his captivity. In the same hospital, another hostage, Guy Gilboa Dalal, told his family that he had been subjected to bad treatment, both physical and psychological. They were beaten almost every day, starved. The terrorists that held them apparently used to lie a lot to them. They used to tell Guy that his family don't fight for him and that he was forgotten. They told him that I was murdered. They constantly were abusing him, both physically and psychologically. The bodies of three other Israeli hostages were returned on Tuesday evening. Several others are thought to remain in Gaza.
