In a separate case, a 25-year-old Charlemont man was arrested and charged with disqualified driving, evading police, and drug possession after failing to stop for officers.

The operation, conducted over two nights, resulted in a total of 72 charges being laid and the recovery of six stolen vehicles. Police say the ongoing operation is designed to deter potential car thieves and will continue without warning.

Over just the two nights in August 35 people were arrested facing a total 72 charges among them and six stolen cars were recovered.
