The state of Minnesota, along with the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, has initiated legal proceedings against the Department of Homeland Security in response to a recent surge of approximately 3,000 federal agents deployed for immigration enforcement. State and local officials argue that these actions involve racial profiling, excessive force, and warrantless arrests, which they claim violate constitutional protections.

Federal officials, including former ICE Director Tom Homan, maintain that the increased enforcement is necessary due to the influx of undocumented immigrants in recent years. The situation has led to widespread protests, particularly following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer, and ongoing tensions between local and federal authorities regarding cooperation and public safety.

Our Asher Red is live in Minneapolis tonight to explain. So Asher, the attorney general and Twin Cities mayors are calling the ice enforcement and invasion. But President Trump's border boss says the real invasion started years ago. Well, Tim and Simone, the state of Minnesota and the cities of Minneapolis and ST Paul want to stop the recent surge of federal agents. Right now, there are about 3000 federal agents in the Twin Cities. Their mission is to continue the Trump administration's federal immigration crackdown. But state and local leaders say the feds are just causing more harm than good. They're accusing ice agents of using racial profiling, excessive force and warrantless arrests. Mayor Jacob Fry is calling this an invasion of his city. What we are seeing right now is not normal immigration enforcement. We are not asking ice not to do ice things. We are asking this federal government to stop the unconstitutional conduct that is invading our streets each and every day. But borders are Tom Homan says the invasion started four years ago when he says the Biden administration led millions of illegal immigrants into the U. S. Without proper vetting, anti ice protests have popped up across the Twin Cities since an ice officer shot and killed Renee Nicole Good last week. Every day we've seen federal agents used tear gas and pepper balls to fend off large crowds of protesters. But Homan says much of this could have been avoided if state and local authorities would work with the feds. If these governors and mayors will simply let us in their jail, you know, comply with the retainers, we could arrest that criminal public safety, threaten the safety and security of a jail.
