A series of cold fronts is forecast to bring bitterly cold wind chills across the Midwestern United States, with temperatures dropping into the single digits and below zero, especially around the Great Lakes. The cold air will extend into the I-95 corridor and reach as far south as central Florida, with wind chills in the 30s and 40s expected in Miami.

Boston is currently 9.5 inches below average snowfall, and no snow is on the ground despite the cold. Another wave of cold air is expected to arrive, making conditions feel even colder in cities such as Chicago, Indianapolis, and Detroit.

Look at Thursday, our cold front slides through and boy oh boy does winter take hold. Our first blast of sub-freezing wind chills, the teens all the way down to the south, the 20s as well. As you're waking up Thursday at 5 a.m. single digits and then below zero temps here around the Great Lakes. Not quite getting into that I-95 quarter just yet, the 20s and the 30s. That's gonna be balmy relative to what we get as we head into our Friday. There we go, Friday morning we will see those wind chills in the single digits in Boston. It'll feel like 12 in New York. It'll feel like 15 in D.C. and by the way there's no snow on the ground which is kind of good. Boston's nine and a half inches below average on snowfall. A little more moderated here in the Great Lakes but then we get our next blast of cold air that comes in on Saturday making it feel even colder. 13, 14, nearly 20 below. Chicago feeling like 2. Indy feeling like 7. Detroit feeling like 14 and we get it in the south as well waking up Thursday morning all the way down into central Florida. We will get that chill especially as we head into our Friday morning 30s and 40s down into Miami.
