The Senate Banking Committee has voted 13-11 to recommend Stephen Miran for a position as a Federal Reserve governor. The vote was split along party lines, with all Republicans supporting Miran's nomination and all Democrats opposing it. 

Concerns were raised during the hearing about Miran's independence, given his current role at the White House and the possibility that he would only take a leave of absence rather than resign. Despite these concerns, the nomination will now proceed to the full Senate for a final vote, which could occur before the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting.

As we're talking, got a key confirmation vote just concluding for potential Fed Governor Myron. Let's get to Emily Wilkins in D.C. Hey, Emily. Hey, David. Well, yes, the Senate Banking Committee just approved Stephen Myron to be the next Fed governor. That was a 13-11 vote, all Republicans voting for, all Democrats voting yes, sorry, against. Now, of course, the question is, can he get that final vote before the Fed meeting next week? And the answer is maybe. There is technically still time for him to go to the floor and get that full Senate vote that would allow him to assume the position of Fed governor, at least for the next four months. And that was one of the things that came up in the hearing today, the concern about his dual role. If he's just taking a leave of absence from his role at the White House, can he truly be independent on the Fed? Certainly, that was an argument that swayed a lot of Democrats to vote against him, but did not seem to keep any Republicans from supporting his nomination. A number of them have said that since he's just there for a short period of time, they don't see a problem. Guys? All right. Well, might not even need to be there. Looks like a lock for a Fed cut next week. Thank you, Emily.
