Well, joining us now to discuss is Minnesota State Senator Michael Holmstrom. Good morning to you, sir. Thanks for having me. Good morning. Your reaction to yesterday's alleged terror attack on ICE officers? Yeah, so we, I was actually in a working group with some other senators when the news broke and it was really frustrating to see it happen. This is something we all feared could happen on the heels of almost a full year of Tim Walls, our governor, saying horrible things about federal agents, calling them Nazis, calling them Gestapo, white supremacists. We had our lieutenant governor telling people two months ago to get out and use your bodies to oppose the Trump administration. This is a very predictable result. Unfortunately, at all levels of government, we've been seeing legislators actually partake in protests against ICE and potentially obstructing ICE. And this is what this individual did. They pulled their vehicle sideways, tried to create a roadblock, created an unsafe situation for themselves and for the officers. And then when you accelerate an officer, when your tires return towards the guy, I don't think that there's a different expectation or different result that could be foreseen. You know, this attack occurred just blocks from where George Floyd died more than five years ago. The city is now on high alert as protests erupt in the streets once again. But Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey was supportive of the violent protesters in 2020. Your thoughts, and do you expect him to support anti-law enforcement protests this time around? Jacob Frey is very historically a weak figure in Minnesota. He is always going to turn down to the mob and do whatever he thinks that they want from him. So we saw last night that the protesters showed up at the federal courthouse. They started breaking the windows. They were trying to force their way in. Just two security guards were doing everything they could to keep this crowd of people from busting through the doors. Again, this is a dangerous situation and our leaders are not doing the responsible thing. Jacob Frey should be telling people that you can protest all you want, responsibly stay out of the roads, stay out of commerce. And Tim Walz needs to quit threatening to use the National Guard in some very weird veiled threat against the federal law enforcement. That's not an acceptable response. That is not what Minnesotans should expect from our leaders and frankly isn't any Minnesotan I've talked to. Yeah, I think he should use the National Guard, not on ICE officers, but on the people who are engaging in these violent acts against law enforcement. Absolutely. Well, speaking of your state's governor, Tim Walz had this to say following the alleged domestic terror incident. We've never been at war with our federal government. My primary responsibility as governor is the protection of the people of Minnesota and you can be assured whether it's the state patrol or whether it's the National Guard, their deployment is there to protect Minnesotans from whatever it is. If it's an act of nature, if it's a global pandemic, or in this case, if it is a rogue federal agent. Senator, your reaction to Tim Walz saying your state is at war with the federal government and siding with anti-ICE protesters over law enforcement, your thoughts? Minnesota is not at war with the federal government. That is not going to happen. Tim Walz, again, this guy is unhinged. He has lost his political future. He doesn't know what to do. He's lost in the wilderness and he's going to continue to lash out and say crazy things. I actually have a letter that I sent out to the president yesterday. This man needs to be indicted. He is clearly, an investigation needs to happen because the fraud and the way that this has all been allowed to happen, it's been coming down from the top almost certainly. We saw an office of legislative, sorry, auditor come out with a report two days ago showing that DHS, his administration, from the top down was falsifying documents, was trying to hide their failure to safeguard hundreds of millions of dollars. He knows that the walls are collapsing and he's trying his hardest to try to gain support from whatever faction he thinks is going to keep him from getting thrown out. But the reality is he's a loser, he's dangerous, and he needs to go. And just for clarification, that wasn't a pun, folks, in terms of walls collapsing. While we're on the subject of Tim Walz, he is also at the center of a massive alleged fraud scheme in his state. Here's what administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Dr. Mehmet Faz had to say. At CMS and HHS, we're increasingly worried about the deep rot within Minnesota's Medicaid and social services system. We have an unfortunate announcement for the Walz administration. They have to admit they were warned. Last month, we instructed the Walz administration to produce a corrective action plan by the end of the year, which we received late New Year's Eve and found deeply insufficient. I just notified Governor Walz we will begin auditing Medicaid receipts and defer paying on claims based on fraud, waste and abuse. What's your take on Mehmet Faz's statement here? And what do you foresee? You know, it's about time that somebody is auditing these receipts. It's about time that somebody cares enough to look into it and find out how our money is being stolen from us. We have, we're coming off of four years of Tim Walz controlling everything and four years of Joe Biden running the federal government. Nobody was watching. Nobody was interested. And in my opinion, they were doing it on purpose because it's politically expedient for them to give this money away to communities that support them electorally. Thank you so much.
