Comic-Con International 2025 officially begins on Thursday, but eager attendees got a sneak preview on Wednesday at the San Diego Convention Center.

San Diego Comic-Con International 2025 has begun, drawing tens of thousands of fans to the San Diego Convention Center for a four-day celebration of pop culture. Attendees received early previews of upcoming projects, including the next Predator film and the Alien series, and were treated to a special appearance by George Lucas. 

The convention, which is expected to attract around 135,000 people, offers a vast exhibitor area and opportunities for fans to connect over shared interests. While the event is filled with excitement and community spirit, organizers have indicated that there will be no major announcements regarding Marvel's film lineup or the next steps for DC's Superman franchise.

I think this convention brings people from kind of all over the world and nothing brings people together more than like fandom and just knowing without even knowing each other it's like oh I can see that we like the same thing and so you sort of start with this establishing like we have something in common so it makes it so much easier to talk to people and I think this community there's a lot of people that are very shy and so just having that little window of opportunity to talk to someone that you don't know and say we like the same thing and yeah it just brings people together. However don't anticipate any significant announcements regarding the future of Marvel's film lineup or the next steps for the popular relaunch of DC's soaring Superman franchise. So tomorrow I'm in Fiji for Moana, yes it's a little hot but it'll do. Friday is going to be the Evil Queen of course and then I have Poison Ivy so a little DC for you yeah. Fans enjoyed a preview of the convention's 42,700 square meter exhibitor area. These fandoms have brought me my closest friends as adults and especially in the online space it's like it doesn't matter where anyone's at because we can communicate all the time and then when you get something like this it's so special because it's like okay we're all setting aside time in our adult schedules to come do this thing and see each other. An estimated 135,000 attendees are expected at the convention and fans of the Alien and Predator franchises will have much to celebrate.
