The launch comes as Apple, Samsung's main competitor, delays its major AI updates and considers licensing technology from other providers. While it is too early to determine the impact of these AI features on consumer demand, Samsung is currently advancing its AI offerings more rapidly than Apple, reflecting a broader industry trend of partnering for AI development.

Hey there, Mike. Yeah, I'm here in Brooklyn, New York. This is where Samsung is unveiling those two new phones you talked about, the Galaxy Flip and Fold 7, the 7th generation of those phones. Foldable devices, they're cool, they're fun to talk about, not big sellers, but what we're really here to talk about is the artificial intelligence features in here and how Samsung is approaching it versus other competitors here. This is Apple's biggest competitor, by the way. They are partnering here, though, with Google and using Gemini artificial intelligence, the chatbot, and also what they're calling multimodal, meaning you can use the phone's camera to send live video feeds to the Gemini assistant. It can talk to you about what you're doing. There's even a new selfie feature on one of the foldable phones. It can kind of analyze what you wear and dress and give you outfit recommendations and things like that. But compare this to what we were seeing from Apple a month ago. We were down in Cupertino at WWDC, and artificial intelligence really took a backseat after the previous year of over-promising and under-delivering, most notably that big Siri update that they failed to deliver on time. That is now delayed until 2026. So while Apple is kind of taking a gap year, we're here in Brooklyn watching Samsung, its biggest competitor, really move forward. And it also speaks to, guys, this kind of idea of build it or partner or license it. And we have this really interesting trend that we're seeing here with Samsung partnering, and also there's reports we got a couple of days ago about Apple potentially giving up on building LLMs on its own and using its own AI technology, and instead licensing it from Anthropic or OpenAI. It looks like Anthropic is going to be the leader there. But look, right now we have Apple sort of taking its gap year in artificial intelligence, but what we're seeing right now is Samsung moving forward. That doesn't mean Apple can't catch up. We've been here before. You might remember over a decade ago when Samsung kind of had the limelight because it's putting out phones with big screens. Well, as soon as Apple did that, it was off to the races for Apple. And so we'll see if they can do the same thing with artificial intelligence next year, guys. Steve, this idea of a sort of purpose-built AI device, if that's what this is really being positioned as, do we know how effective that's going to be in terms of demand? And obviously the AI PC thing hasn't taken off. And I just wonder if consumers are thinking in those terms. It becomes a selling point. And I mean, I'll go back to the Apple example, too. I mean, this was supposed to be a selling point for the iPhone 16. They were marketing it. There was a lot of optimism that that would drive sales, which never materialized. And it's still a little too early to tell on the Android side and the Samsung side if that's having a significant drive in sales or if it's just kind of people need a new phone and they want to upgrade. But at the same time, these are the kind of features people are asking for. They want AI on their phones. They want their smarter assistants that can do more. And on the Android side, you're just seeing them make more advancements than what we've seen on the iOS and Apple side so far. But that doesn't mean it won't change.
