Women's world number one and defending US Open champion Aryna Sabalenka has beaten American Jessica Pegula to advance to the final at Flushing Meadows.

Aryna Sabalenka progressed to the US Open final following a challenging match against Jessica Pegula, overcoming a first-set deficit to secure victory. Sabalenka, currently ranked number one, will now defend her title against Amanda Anisimova, who earned her spot in the final after defeating Naomi Osaka in a match that saw both players trade tie-break sets before Anisimova prevailed in the third.

Sabalenka also addressed her upcoming exhibition match against Nick Kyrgios, expressing confidence and a desire to improve on her previous runner-up speech at the French Open. Anisimova, meanwhile, praised Osaka’s performance, acknowledging her comeback after maternity leave and expressing hope for a better result in the US Open final.

Going for broke when break points down in the third paid off big time. The Belarusian with a tiger tattoo let out a mighty roar when it was finally over. Sabalenka promises to be gracious, unlike her runner-up speech at the French Open. What happened in Paris, definitely not going to happen here. And never, you know, I learned that lesson. And she didn't miss Nick Kyrgios' comments ahead of their Battle of the Sexes in January. He said in another interview that I genuinely think that I'm going to win and I'll definitely go out there and I'll try my best to kick his ass. The American dream lives on. Amanda Anasimova, the first to beat Naomi Osaka in a Grand Slam semi. The first two sets traded in tie breaks, literally millimetres in their match-up. Osaka seemed to run out of steam in the third and her opponent pounced. Anasimova closed it out 6-3 and had high praise for Naomi, who's well and truly back. I told her, like, I'm so proud of her after having a baby and playing at this level. It's insane. Also a finalist at Wimbledon, Anasimova is aiming for a better outcome on her home court.
