Russian troops have increased their presence in the strategic city of Pokrovsk, Ukraine, with estimates suggesting a five-to-one advantage over Ukrainian forces. The city, which once had a population of 60,000, now has approximately 1,000 civilians remaining as Russia attempts to encircle Pokrovsk and cut off access to the nearby city of Minohrad.

Ukrainian troops face difficulties due to the high risk of drone activity, forcing them to travel on foot for the final stretch to the city. Meanwhile, Russian advances are also reported in the Zaporizhia region, prompting police to evacuate residents as the front line moves closer.

It's part of a goal to seize an even greater chunk of Ukraine's Donetsk region. We have to hold this position as many times as we need, as we can. To the southeast in the Zaporizhia region, Russia is also trying to press forward.
