And it needs to be a turning point for the Rohingya, for the international community to take action and to devise a lasting solution to their plight. The UN's top official on refugees used the conference to call for more funding amid a global downturn in foreign aid assistance. The UN's Rohingya Humanitarian Response Plan is only 37% funded. Unless further resources are forthcoming, despite the needs, we will be forced to make more cuts while striving to minimize the risk of losing lives, children dying of malnutrition. The U.K. announced it would donate another $36 million to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. In a world with so many humanitarian crises, we must not allow the Rohingya crisis to be forgotten. But none of the Rohingya currently living in the refugee camps were at the conference to speak for themselves, as they have no means to arrange international travel outside the camps. Assistance provided by the UN and the Bangladeshi government in previous years was not made available this time. That left civil society and members of the Rohingya diaspora to speak on their behalf. And many said the conference missed the mark. I do not think there is any concrete solution that has come out of the conference yet. To me, based on my experience of being in this kind of similar conferences, we're still saying the same thing and using the similar language of, you know, condemning the Junta's act, concerning about the issues ongoing, which are very valid. But what is missing from the conference is that we're going to do A, B, C, D in the next six months. No doubt some of the objectives of this conference were certainly met, such as new financial contributions to the humanitarian fund. But with no concrete action agreed upon to end the suffering of the Rohingya people, the conference likely did not live up to its lofty expectations.
