This request follows an executive order by President Trump designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist group, despite the lack of formal structure within Antifa and the president's limited authority to make such designations for domestic organizations.

The report notes a lack of clarity regarding which groups are being targeted and what constitutes suspicious activity, raising concerns among left-leaning and nonprofit organizations. There is no evidence presented of widespread Antifa involvement in banking, and the broad nature of the request has led to fears that it could be used to investigate a wide range of progressive funding networks.

An exclusive report from the Free Press reveals the Trump administration is asking banks to report, quote, domestic terrorist activity as part of the president's efforts to crack down on Antifa. Joining us now to talk about his new reporting is Gabe Kaminsky. Gabe is an investigative reporter for the Free Press, which is owned by our parent company, Paramount Skydance. Gabe, very good to have you here with us. Can you walk us through your report? Yeah. Thank you much. Thank you for having me. So, as we reported in the Free Press, the Treasury Department essentially is asking financial institutions, banks, to provide any kinds of information that they determine to be linked to purported domestic terrorist activity. The Treasury Department and our sources did not provide much clarity about exactly what that constitutes. But as you said, it comes as the Trump administration and agencies are aiming, after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to investigate left-leaning and progressive funding networks. And in many cases, in kind of broad, unclear strokes, it is not clear exactly what groups are being targeted. There's foundations connected to Democratic donors, such as George Soros, who may be under investigation. But again, it's not entirely clear how exactly these groups connect to the assassination. At this point, has there been any evidence of widespread Antifa banking or Antifa activity in banking? No. I mean, so, really, the main—you know, so, President Trump issued an executive order that designated Antifa as what he called a domestic terrorist group. The sort of big questions surrounding that are that, one, Antifa is not a formal entity. There's not an Antifa charity, 501c4, Super PAC, is a loosely organized left-wing movement of protesters. And the second thing is that the president doesn't actually have the power to designate domestic groups as terrorist organizations. That's a classification meant for foreign organizations. And so, Gabe, is there a concern here that this could potentially be used to target left-leaning groups as a whole? I think that's the primary concern among left-leaning organizations in general, right, is because of the sort of broadness of the rhetoric and the investigations that are being launched in the government, it's not really clear who exactly is going to be targeted and the exact reasons that they would be. And that's what we've been hearing from sources in sort of left-leaning, nonprofit world. Gabe Kaminsky, very good to have you here with us. Thanks, Gabe.
