Currently, seeking aid is a death trap. Look at the young men. All the bags of flour have blood on them, this man said. According to Gaza's health ministry, 57 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers in the past day, including 29 trying to simply access aid. It's a risk they say they're willing to endure for their children. Since March, there have been 127 deaths, including 85 kids, due to famine and malnutrition. Our children, whom we carried for nine months and then gave birth to, have become just numbers, this woman says. It is forbidden to withhold aid from civilians. That is not consistent with international law, but actually, as importantly, it's morally the wrong thing to do. Activists have been trying to ship supplies to the strip themselves. This boat is the second to be intercepted by Israeli soldiers in a matter of weeks. Those on board, including two Australians, taken into custody. If governments hadn't have failed their moral responsibilities in the last 22 months, we wouldn't have had to sail. Our government says it will continue to contribute to the humanitarian effort where possible. As for whether we would follow France in recognising Palestinian statehood in September... Are we about to do that? No we are not. How do you exclude Hamas from any involvement there? Words are pointless, we need action. The fury is being felt right around the world, from big gatherings in Yemen, to silent protests in France. I think it's a very opportune message. A message that's only getting louder here at home. For two years now, pro-Palestine protesters have gathered here in Hyde Park in their thousands, but next weekend they want to go even bigger.
