The announcement comes at a time when the U.S. has imposed tariffs of 50 percent on Indian imports and is reportedly urging the European Union to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on both India and China, aiming to pressure Russia over its oil exports. The ongoing trade talks are significant given the current tariff landscape and the broader geopolitical context.

So you do have to wonder how that might impact these upcoming talks, but of course there is a lot on the line here for both countries with tariffs now in place on Indian imports of 50 percent as of late last month.
