Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents in Sydney suburbs. In Croydon Park, bullets perforated the top floor of a home occupied by a family, including two children. Neighbours reported that the house had been targeted previously, with attempted break-ins and a recent attack just weeks earlier. A person was seen firing two rounds before fleeing in a white hatchback.

A few hours later, a unit in Prairiewood, occupied by an 80-year-old woman, was sprayed with bullets, possibly due to mistaken identity. Police believe the intended target may have lived on a different level. Investigations are ongoing, with no evidence currently linking the two incidents. Authorities are appealing for information from the public.

A man, three women, one elderly and two children aged six and five. I was actually really a bit scared sleeping. I didn't have very much sleep. Neighbours say it's not the first time this house has been targeted. The last attack just six weeks ago, the damage still unrepaired. There have been attempted break-ins probably about six or seven times. My biggest concern was that they'd come knocking at the wrong door one day. 10 News understands a person was seen standing out the front of the property when two rounds were fired from a pistol. They then got into the driver's seat of a white hatchback and took off around the corner onto Tavistock Street. Anyone with information as to the occupants of that vehicle or the owner of that vehicle is urged to contact Crimestoppers. Just three and a half hours later in Prairiewood, the unit of an unsuspecting 80-year-old woman was sprayed with bullets at least a dozen times. The motivation could be a mistaken identity at this point in time. The intended target believed to be living on the level below. Occupant history and a white Ford Ranger seen in the area both lines of inquiry. Sniffer dogs today brought to one crime scene. Detectives combing the other. But police say there's no evidence the two shootings are linked. Anyone willing to put another person's family at risk like that, we need to make sure that they are not in our community.
