Two people were injured after armed intruders stormed a family home in Rosemeadow, southwest Sydney. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who fled the scene following the violent attack.

A group of armed intruders broke into a family home in Rosemeadow, Sydney, wielding a double-barrel shotgun and machetes. The attackers forced entry, threatened the residents, and fled with bags after a brief but violent encounter. 

The 53-year-old father and his 19-year-old son sustained injuries and were taken to hospital, while other family members escaped harm. Police believe the attack was targeted and have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who left the scene in a car with its headlights off. The incident has left the local community shocked.

Sprinting down Hamlet Crescent, a group of attackers leaving a rattled family in their wake. Lying in bed just watching a little bit of television and I heard bashing really loud, bashing and banging. The thugs stormed the Rosemeadow home at around 1.30 this morning. Police told they were armed with a double barrel shotgun and two machetes. We're all bolting and then two of the guys, they ran back but they looked like they were carrying bags of some sort. They put the family through five minutes of hell before piling into a getaway car, driving from the scene with their headlights off. Black tracksuits, hoodies, faces were covered, everything. The 53-year-old father, a local butcher, was taken to hospital with cuts to his face. His 19-year-old son also taken to Campbelltown Hospital with minor injuries while his 20-year-old daughter and her two friends escaped unscathed. Police believe the attack was targeted and a manhunt is now underway for the culprits. It's a pretty quiet street, pretty quiet area here. The home remained a crime scene for the rest of the morning as police searched for any trace of the offenders. The residents now left to replace their front door bashed in as the group forced entry. Today's events have shocked neighbours who say the father is a well-known and well-liked member of the community whose family has been here for years. Normal people, normal family.
